Originally built by Tom Austen. Purchased by Roy Foster for his newly-built Great Torrington Railway in September 1987, and totally rebuilt by him. When the railway was purchased by disgraced former MP Piers Merchant in 1998, an attempt was made to run the loco, resulting in a failed boiler plug. Partially dismantled, and in a sorry state, Mark Rolle was stored until being sold in 2010, and eventually rebuilt by Andrew Robinson. In 2023, the loco is almost back in operational condition
