Statfold Barn Railway was looking for a large, powerful 12.25" locomotive and that could only mean a visit to the Exmoor Steam Railway. Could the family be pursuaded to build just one more? It could, and 'Carol Ann' emerged in early 2024, three years after the last machine to leave the works

BR Standard Class 9F 'Black Prince' was built by L Pownall in 1978 and ran primarily on the Walsall Steam Railway until that line closed in the early 1980s. It moved later to the Malden District Society of Model Engineers railway at Thames Ditton, and most recently to the Guildford Model Engineering Society track at Guildford

Sister Dora was initially an exercise for engineering apprentices under the tutelage of West Midlands engineering lecturer Arthur Glaze, himself a prolific manufacturer of miniature steam locomotives. When the company went bankrupt, Arthur accepted the part-built machine in lieu of wages, and finished the machine in 1981. It ran primarily at the Walsall Steam Railway until that line closed in the early 1980s, and it went to the Great Cockcrow Railway in 1988. In 2021 it was bought by Matthew Scrutton and it still runs at the GCR today. Thanks to Mattew Scrutton

'Glyndwr' was built by the late William Morris in 1922. When he died, his son - by then in Australia - gifted the loco to the South Wales Miners Museum in Afan Forest near Port Talbot. Glyndwr is built to the relatively rare gaige of 9.5" and the Museum has established a 140 yard line to run it, and offer rides to the public

Previously 191 'Lorna Doone'. It was renamed 'John Remy' in 2001 and worked at Beale Park. In 2018, it was bought by the Littlehampton Miniature Railway which was desperate for motive power. It emerged from another rebuild and regauging exercise in 2021 as 'Christopher',  a 12.25" gauge 2-6-2T, and now works in that form at Littlehampton

Very little is known about this locomotive

'Sapphire' might well turn out to be the last Exmoor Steam Railway locomotive. It was built in 2021 for 'Pugneys' Miniature Railway of Wakefield. Like several of the later machines, it was a tender loco

Being 24-inch gauge, this loco is technically narrow-gauge rather than miniature, but let's not get too pedantic! It is based at the Wales West Light Railway in Silvertown, Alabama USA

Built as 'River Churnet', a 12.25" 2-4-2T, it was regauged soon afterwards to 10.25" and sold to the Rudyard Lake Railway

Kit-build by David Henshaw. Started March 2006 at Castle Cary, Somerset, and completed in Dorchester, spring 2007
