This delightful machine was built in 1900, give or take a year or two. Amongst many mysteries is the origin of the machine. We know who built it, but it's not clear whether there was any association with the Caledonian's St Rolox Works in Glasgow, and why the peculiar gauge? It disappears from the records for many years, before reappearing at Rhyl, where the Voryd Lilliput Railway was built to accomodate it by Len Beeland in 1947. It seems to have failed in 1950, but somehow survived to be completely restored at Springvale Mill in Haslingden, Lancashire in August 1988, and is now an exhibit in the Glasgow Transport Museum.
